Film Scanning We
create digital negatives from your 8mm, s8, 16mm, s16,Techniscope, 35mm,
Vistavision or 65mm film using an Oxberry Cinescan Film Scanner equipped with a
liquid gate, which minimizes the need for retouching and scratch removal. The
Oxberry gate provides highly precise pin-registered scans, and the Oxberry
film transport is very gentle on film. Resolutions up to 4096x4096 are
available. Scans are done in 10 bit cineon color space to preserve the entire range of color information
on your original negative. Files
are available in many formats and resolutions. Special formats may incur
additional conversion charges. Please request a copy of our film scanning
guidelines for information on file formats and media options. Digital
Intermediate We have two Discreet Lustre color correction suites
which have been fully calibrated to achieve consistent repeatable color from
the original scan though the color correction session to the print of the
recorded negative. Our screening room is set up for 35mm and 70mm side by
side with digital projection for comparison of film to digital. .Film Recording
We
provide pin-registered 35mm film recording using Arri Laser recorders. Files
may be recorded at a resolution of 2K or 4K, or we can accommodate custom
formats. We maintain strict quality control for consistent output. This
includes doing our own printing in-house, providing you with consistent and
accurate check prints for color reference and matching. We
prefer 10 bit DPX files, but other formats may be submitted upon request. We
can record your images to estar or acetate, color or black and white
intermediate stocks as well as b+w separation masters. Please request a copy
of our file submission guidelines for film recording prior to placing your
order. The guide will describe the various options for recording as well as
information on how to prepare your files for recording. |

Video to Film For
the best results, it is essential to take into consideration several factors
that are unique to the video to film transfer process. Please ask us for a
copy of our recommended practices and procedures for video to film transfer. We
accept video masters in either the standard 4:3 aspect ratio or the 16:9
aspect ratio, PAL or NTSC, Standard Def or HD. The preferred format for masters is
data on a hard drive. However, we are able to accommodate other formats for a
small additional charge. With
a 2K
video to film transfer, you will receive a 35mm negative, 35mm optical sound track
negative made from your videotape, audio files or DAT tape, and a composite
check print. There is no additional charge to release the negative from the
lab. Long projects will be quoted on request. Turnaround time is dependent on the
length of the job and is scheduled on a first in/first out basis. Rush
service is available for an additional charge. |

Custom Image
Processing We
are post-production specialists in both traditional film techniques as well
as the latest digital imaging technologies for use in special effects. In
addition to our compositing and digital retouching capabilities, We have
developed a wide palette of image processing tools to deal with special
problems. For example, we recently used several image processing techniques
that we developed in-house to eliminate the effects of X-ray damage and HMI flicker problems
to
original color negative. |
